Shaping a Drug-Free Future in Denmark

In Denmark, a new report shows that fewer young men are drinking alcohol and fewer young people have tried cannabis in 2025. According to the report, this trend may reflect the growing visibility of stories showing the risks of using drugs. Drug-Free World Denmark (DFW DK) is doing exactly that. Leading the way in ensuring youth get the cold, hard facts about drugs, DFW DK shapes this change through one conversation, one booklet, one eye-opening experience at a time.

At Nytorv Square, children put on simulation goggles to see the world through the eyes of someone affected by alcohol—a realistic experience to deter them from drinking. Parents stopped, grateful to find trustworthy information. A grandmother smiled as she tucked a booklet into her grandson’s birthday card, knowing he’ll learn the truth before his friends talk to him. A mother, worried about her 12-year-old experimenting with substances, decided to join the team.

At festivals, sporting events and markets, the team engages thousands. Passersby take booklets to share. Even a local TikToker, who toured the DFW Mobile Exhibit months earlier and grabbed a booklet for a friend, returned for another booklet and thanked the volunteers for their work.

Through these efforts, DFW DK is turning information into action, empowering youth and communities to choose a healthier, drug-free life.
